In this exhibit of his newest works, Andrew Hindman is “Breaking Boundaries” in his artistic style. Formerly, his focus was purely abstract paintings. Now, figurative paintings of children in combination with landscapes are the subjects that hold his fascination. The work, rendered with precise realism, leads the viewer through breathtaking vista’s and childhood memories.

“Andrew’s paintings are filled with energy and life” say gallery owner Clare Bailey “ There is a definite mood in his figurative pieces and sense of time or season in his landscapes”.

Many of the images include rivers or lakes as the backdrop for his subjects. The well-executed reflection on the waters surface as well as Andrew’s ability to render realistic light effects creates a sense of movement.

“The reflection in the water makes me think about life itself and what is reality,” Andrew thoughtfully explains. “With age our perception of the world changes and therefore our reality changes as well. The thin surface of the water carries an illusion that offers glimpses into its depths and beckons us to look deeper. All of these metaphors describe what I am going though as a human and illustrate what excites me about painting. Every painting is a new discovery. Every piece contains illusion and a deeper meaning. I know when a work is done when it resonates with me in a way I can’t describe, or maybe I just did.

A selection of Andrew’s new work will be displayed at the MAIYA Gallery. Artists’ Reception will be on March 11th – 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Second Saturday reception will be on March 13th from 6pm to 9pm.
